Dead/Jazz/Whatever-head, archivist, and budding taper. He/him.
At the Vanguard for only the second time!
Danced so much at the last set of yesterday (Carl Craig) and the first set of today (Kassa Overall) that I’ve already racked up 15,000 steps. Lord, pray for my calves.
My t-shirts are growing increasingly and increasingly niche but I’m proud to report that this one got at least one (1) fist bump in the MSG concourse

SET BREAK

Howdy! I recently relistened to one of my favorite Dead runs - early Fall 1973. In celebration / for kicks, I put together a lil mixtape from the 8-show run from 10/19 to 11/1. It's 3 hours long, 21 songs, sequenced in a setlist-like fashion. Figured I might as well share it here!

I included a text document with my notes on each song / show too, to give some context why I chose particular tracks. (and lemme know if there's any issues w/ the dropbox):

A surprise MLB jam in the midst of Isaiah Collier’s excellent new record!
Seeing the Arkestra truly never gets old. Marshall Allen, channeling the cosmically untethered key tones of Sun Ra himself. Always wonderful.
Absolutely staggering amount of chompers during this Arkestra set…
Calling all jazzheads: what's the best record to start with Matana Roberts? Been seeing their name around lately and want to dive in.
