I enjoy reading this kind of #ArtBook. I think many people might find books like this shallow and never going into depth on a artist or #artwork but books like these are a great way to find new #artists to look at.

And I quite like the simplistic, straightforward way books like this describe art. Sometimes all you really need is a brief explanation and the rest you can ponder on yourself.

Books like this can get boring if you read them for too long. They are good for dipping into occasionally. But I enjoy being taken on a journey through different artists' practices.

This is a fridge

I thought that it might be interesting to photograph by dolls house furniture collection, but I'm not so sure.

It made me consider the differences between digital and traditional photography. And it also made me think of how time can create more impact, more importance to a work of art.

I imagine photos of dolls house furniture would be far greater if they were from 30-40 years ago, taken using traditional photography equipment, and being actual, printed photos. As digital photos I feel they lack something - lack a kind of realness.

While I will only really be using digital photography, the traditional methods have a physicality that digital cannot replicate, and the process of making photos has more of a practical skill to it. A printed traditional photo has a kind of "made" quality. While it can be reproduced, there is a process of printing the photos.

Digital takes out a lot of the work. There are other things to consider but there is a sense that copies are much more easily made.

But also time is a factor. I know now how mass-produced posters and inexpensive prints of the past are now worth a lot more. While at the time they were unlimited prints, they have become limited because they are no longer printed. And since they were inexpensive, many people didn't look after them and they were damaged.

So I think some photography only really has impact when it is a set of old, traditionally printed photos. Digital doesn't quite do it.
