I look after MastodonApp.UK and Universeodon.com and intend to use this account as a backup in case we experience any issues that would be useful to be able to relay!

For both sites, I've raised an incident on our status page that you can track rather than trying to find things. https://status.atlas-media.co.uk/incidents/108

I'll also post from @wild1145 if it looks like both sites will be down for a while so folks are welcome to keep an eye on that account as well once maintenance starts.

Details and updates about the [UPCOMING] Maintenance to MastodonApp.UK & Universeodon.com - Outage incident that occurred on Friday 30th August 2024 19:19:22

I'll give folks a 30-60 min warning later once I have everything in place to start the migration.

Folks on Universeodon I'm planning currently to do the same where I'll need to take the site offline for a few hours but that will likely be towards the end of the MastodonApp maintenance so I'll give you a 30-60 min warning over on @wild1145

I'm planning to (if nothing goes wrong) take MastodonAppUK down this evening for what I suspect will be a few hours. During this time the database will be moved onto the new larger and more powerful server that I have provisioned and allow us future growth. At the same time I'll be moving other parts of the infrastructure off of some of the older hardware now and onto our newer re-built infrastructure ready for when the database move is complete.
We are currently having some issues with #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon - I’m working now to get the sites back up and running, please sit tight for a little bit while I figure out what has fallen over and why things aren’t playing nice!
#MastodonAppUK is now back up and running. We aren't 100% fully back to normal but we are online and things appear to be working as expected.

We are back folks, I'm really sorry for the major outage we've had since around 3pm today. I'll write up a proper report on this and share it shortly.

We will need to perform some further maintenance tomorrow but for now I really do need some sleep!

The data transfer from our new (not fit for purpose) storage service back onto our original servers storage is taking a significant amount time longer than we had expected for #MastodonAppUK - I am waiting for this to be completed and I'm hoping we can get everything fired back up fairly quickly after, however there is not currently a lot I can do with regards to how long it is taking unfortunately.

We are currently experiencing an unexpected outage on #MastodonAppUK due to the disk space issues we ran into yesterday. I'm working now to free-up space and resolve the fault.
