Porco Rosso (1992) – Review

If I'm being totally honest, I didn't really appreciate the full spectrum of animation coming out of Japan, back in the younger years. While I fully embraced the more futuristic, violent and openly depraved offerings of the art form commonly known as Anime, my idiot ass seemingly had no interest in the whimsical side that came with the rightly celebrated, animation house known as Studio Ghibli.

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen – Season 1, Episode 4: The Witness (2026) – Review

It's been a fun three episodes, but the minds behind new Netflix frightener, Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, have obviously decided that it's time for some long overdue payoff. Placing info dumps in the middle of a show in full swing can go a number of different ways, but the most likely results are that you manage to enhance the perceived threat by finally giving it form,…

Marshals – Season 1, Episode 5: Lost Girls (2026) – Review

Marshals reaches its fifth episode And finally gives Tate something to do in a two-part storyline opener that shifts focus from broader threats like bombers and rancher standoffs to a more personal and socially charged case involving missing Indigenous women and girls from the Broken Rock Reservation. While the episode delivers some emotional weight and timely themes, it also reveals the show’s ongoing struggle…

Baywatch (2017) – Review

Much like video games, Anime and comic book movies during the 90s, the road of movie adaptations of beloved TV shows has been about as smooth as as a stegosaurus' back. Some try to reinvent themselves seriously in a modern world (Miami Vice), others even obtain an entire second life that actually far eclipses it's source material (Mission: Impossible), but most go down the comedy route in order to transform a mostly serious premise into a broad…

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen – Season 1, Episode 3: I Will Light You On Fire (2026) – Review

As we creep stealthily into the third episode like a shadowy intruder crunching through the snow, there's a few questions I have to ask about Netflix's latest scary show, Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen. While the slow burn aspect has been used pretty well up until now, I have to wonder that, despite the talent involved on both sides of the camera, the premise of…

Detective Hole – Season 1, Episode 6: Five (2026) – Review

Episode 6 marks a turning point in the season, shifting the series from building atmospheric dread to delivering answers and revelations that deepen both the central mystery and Harry Hole's personal turmoil while maintaining the show Nordic noir sensibilities. It feels like the calm before a storm and gives renewed appreciation for the adaptation's layered storytelling as all the various plot threads start to…

Se7en (1995) – Review

"You know this isn't going to have a happy ending."It's with this somewhat throwaway line located somewhere in the middle of David Fincher's tangibly bleak Se7en, that Lieutenant Detective William Somerset won the the 1995 award for understatement hands down. Yes, Fincher's infamous sophomore achievement may be most famous by unleashing one of the greatest climatic gutpunches of the 90s, but in many ways this neo-noir, serial killer procedural, is…

Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters – Season 2, Episode 6: Requiem (2026) – Review

With family drama comes a mix of conflicting emotions. While you (usually) find yourself bathed in unconditional love, you often also experience such counterintuitive feelings as confusion, disappointment and resentment if a loved one decides to pull some tricks that you don't agree with. In the event of Hiroshi Randa's death during the last episode of Monarch, the notoriously volatile Randa…
