How much energy can you waste?

If you were a generative AI chatbot, that is. Now you can find out in You Are Generative AI, a text-based role-playing game in which you, the chatbot, answer prompts. The game tracks your accuracy, number of prompts, and how much energy you’ve wasted confidently misleading (or, if you must, accurately informing) the public.

It’s from programmer Kris Lorischild, who’s also behind a similar game called You Are Jeff Bezos.

Apple gave Monaco a custom F1-themed Maps treatment.

The update puts a focus on Formula 1 racing in promotion of both upcoming Apple movie F1 and the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix race happening later this month. The update is full of special Monaco Grand Prix-related things, including little renders of Formula 1 cars at the pits and road closure advisories.

Not that any of us will ever use it — this is basically an update for Apple exec and known sports fan Eddy Cue, right?

Apple Maps brings custom detailed city experience to Monaco to celebrate 'F1' movie and 2025 Monaco Grand Prix | Formula 1®

To celebrate the Formula 1 TAG Heuer Grand Prix de Monaco 2025, and the highly-anticipated premiere of Apple Original Films’ F1 movie, debuting in theatres worldwide next month, Apple Maps users can now enjoy a new Monaco Detailed City Experience and custom updates of the glamorous principality that is so synonymous with F1.

Studio Ghibli’s movie stills remain as lovely as ever.

Kottke.org reminds us today about that time in 2020 when the famed animation studio published hundreds of stills from its animated films. Ghibli promised it would put up more over time, and so it has — including 2023’s The Boy and the Heron.

What’s a US home without Chinese imports?

The New York Times published a clever visualization to illustrate just how many US imports are touched by President Trump’s tariffs. For instance, China apparently makes 97 percent of the baby strollers we import, a figure that came as a bit of a surprise to me!

Some great original Nintendo art is going up for auction.

Time Extension writes about Stephen Peringer, the freelance artist who made 12 pieces of video game available for bidding at Heritage Auctions, starting on May 5th:

Throughout both the 80s and ‘90s, Peringer contributed a frankly stunning amount of iconic art for some of the biggest video game companies around...

You don’t need childhood memory of poring over video game box art at the rental store seared into your head as much as I do to appreciate the work, but it doesn’t hurt.

Here you go, nerds.

Bethesda is now selling chunks of the original servers that brought you The Elder Scrolls Online in 2014, as Kotaku spotted. Dubbed “The Elder Scrolls Online 10-year Anniversary Server Keepsake,” these are sticks of RAM encased, along with a zinc alloy commemorative plate, in wood-framed shadowboxes.

Bethesda is selling 2,000 of the individually numbered sticks for $110, and they ship in July.

Infiniti has a tariff-ic deal for you.

The company’s website is pushing a “Once In A Springtime Event” that involves buying a pre-tariff Infiniti before Trump’s automotive tariff “debacle” cranks prices up.

Zuck has some new shades.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a picture to WhatsApp that shows him wearing what he says are “the new limited edition Ray-Ban Meta x Coperni frames last night.” They’re coming tomorrow, he adds. Meta teased last week that “an exciting collaboration” is coming soon, and I suppose these are them.

It’s hard to tell if they’re translucent from this picture of Zuckerberg, but the earlier tease implied that they are, like Meta’s previous limited edition shades.

Update: According to a Meta blog that just went up, they’ll be available at 1AM PT / 4AM ET for $549. And yes, they’re translucent. Pictures added below.

Meta’s next limited-edition transparent Ray-Bans will drop in March.

There’s always been a Baggins, living here under the hill.

Lego leaked a new Lord of the Rings kit called The Shire in a since-removed event posting on its site spotted by Jay’s Brick Blog. The kit focuses on Bag End, the home of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins in the fantasy series.

The even was for an April 5th signing by the model’s designer at Lego’s flagship London store, according to the article.

Behold the maxed out Mac Studio.

The new M3 Ultra Mac Studio can get up to 512GB of RAM and 16TB of storage, but it’ll cost you $14,099 for that, minus add-ons. That’s a jump from the $8,799 ceiling we reached (using The Internet Archive) for the previous model, which only reaches 192GB of RAM and an 8TB SSD.

It’s still a deal compared to some Mac Pro configurations of the past.
