are we even going to pretend for a single second that living as a person who is not trans is not more easy and more convenient? that capitalism has taught us well that we should value those things far greater than we should value happiness? that when we see anger about our confusion from those who tell us that they are our people, it does not confirm what we already always knew - that we're better off passing because happiness is a lie anyway?

this time last year i was talking to two very white women who a) told me that trans women can never really be women because they don't have uteruses b) assured me that they were very feminist because they believed the right things about metoo and then c) expressed shock that they'd been "outgendered", which never happens to them
