Having kids later makes sense too - my MIL is almost 70 and my dad & FIL are 65, and we just had our first kid. I’m turning 30 next month so I’m still pretty average age but definitely not 18 like my grandma was for her first!

Breastfeeding while babywearing - sh.itjust.works

Does anyone have tips for breastfeeding while babywearing? I’d like to stop taking the baby out and then readjusting all the time (since she inevitably decides she’s hungry as soon as she goes in the carrier). I use both a stretchy wrap and a ring sling. The ring sling is okay enough while sitting down, but we have a regular hangout spot that I’m standing for 2hr.

Definitely at least 2 generations in my family. I spent a lot of time at my grandparents houses as kids but they were not actually doing any childcare.

I think it also has to do with living further away from family becoming more normal. My parents swapped a lot of parenting time with my aunts & uncles - most of us lived within the same 3 town radius. I now live almost 5hr drive from my family so we can’t just swing by Uncle’s house for a few hours.

Definitely don’t need streets to play. A couple paved areas for basketball, skating, etc is nice - but that’s just a park.
I’m stuck on that level of Baba is You as well. I’ll inevitably come back and hit my head against the wall on it every few weeks.

A stretchy wrap is great for newborns since they’re often too small for a normal carrier even with an insert. Some brands make ones with buckles if you don’t want to fiddle with tying it on every time. I use Boba but there’s a bunch of similar brands at the same price point.

I hate to recommend reddit here, but scrolling through babywearing helped me a ton with figuring out what a safe carry looks like for a tiny baby.

I’m on maternity leave and finally finished the extra levels in Opus Magnum this week after figuring out how to sit with the baby and still use both hands

Serious transport alternative is a good way to put it. We have a pedal-assist e-cargo bike and it’s a game changer for mobility.

When I was pregnant, I was able to ebike to my doctor’s appointments pretty much up until I gave birth. My husband uses it for most hardware store runs. Grocery trips for heavy items like cat litter, taking the dogs to the vet, the list goes on.

These are all possible on a non-e cargo bike (or normal bike + trailer) but realistically we would have defaulted to the car most times. Now we drive less than once a week.

This feels written in an AI generated voice as well though

  • all the semi-dramatic filler “Well, Valve had the last laugh”, “That said, it wasn’t perfect”, “And honestly?”, etc
  • each paragraph has an intro, some content, and a conclusion
  • all the punctuation is grammatically correct

Plus, it uses a very generic argument about why everyone else is wrong for not liking the controller, even though from the comments here it’s pretty clear the real reason is not having a d-pad

Just wanted to thank you for this post - my daughter is only a few weeks old but I’ve been tinkering with home assistant during pregnancy and adding smart plugs to appliances seems like a great move when she gets more mobile
