I have heard that SFF author David Drake has died. He was a friend, a gentleman and a scholar. He was one of the best people I ever met, even though he didn’t think so. May he find the solace he sought ever since he came back from Vietnam. The interview he did with Joy Ward for Galaxy’s Edge magazine was one of the most affecting I’ve ever videoed.
Fair winds and following seas, Dave.
The press could tell an accurate story about how Biden's 50 yrs of legislative experience helped him pass huge infra & green energy bills through a 50-50 Senate that contributed to a robust recovery. The feedback loop of a million stories about his age leading to a million stories about polls showing that voters worry about his age was an editorial choice.
Largely missing from the gas stove discourse is the fact that induction cooktops heat faster, offer far more precise temperature control than gas or electric and chefs love them. And the government will give you up to $840 toward buying one plus up to $500 to cover the costs of installation and up to $4000 if you need to upgrade your electrical box to accommodate one.
I'm totally psyched to upgrade my old gas stove.
Why are ethics questions always like:
"is it ethical to steal bread to feed your starving family?"
And not:
"is it ethical to sell bread when families are starving?"
