Agreed! I think if they hear the same thing from independent sources it only helps us. And we're organic sources and not paid lobbyists which carries a ton of weight.

Here's what I sent Wicks's staffer which should cover "Application". It also protects against Tivoization and feature-nerfing via Play Integrity API, and excludes faux OSS licenses like the Business Source License.

§1798.504(f) This title does not apply to any of the following:

Yeah I think it went well. They also seemed concerned that harmless apps that don't geolocate or collect private information (@snow mentioned compilers) are getting swept up in this. Tools that engineers rely on to keep the software infrastructure humming.

I mentioned that, for the general public, OSS is like plumbing in your house: you only learn about it when it doesn't work. Like when Equifax got breached in 2017 for not updating Apache.
