Policy & Markets at NYSERDA. I fight for a just clean energy future. Former Climate Solutions and Washington State Labor Council. A reporter once called me a knifefighter

Opinions my own.

I really wish people would learn what "gaslight" means.
Surprising no one, the American Gas Association's go-to "scientist" to create uncertainty on the dangers of indoor gas use previously worked for Phillip Morris making safety claims for Marlboro. https://nyti.ms/3XLzeNH
In the Fight Over Gas Stoves, Meet the Industry’s Go-To Scientist

Longstanding research shows the health dangers of gas-burning ranges. Utilities are turning to Julie Goodman, a toxicologist with a firm whose work raises questions about the science.

Not to mention that NYPD is absolutely among the most visible violators of basic rules in this city like parking, bike lanes, etc.

Imagine if policing as an institution actually prioritized service instead of whatever it is they prioritize now - shows of force?

This is another data point confirming that law enforcement presence reduces crime. It's clear we need police, but it's just as clear we need to fix policing.

Crime on New York City subways has dropped since more police officers flooded the system in October, issuing thousands more summonses and making hundreds more arrests, Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul said on Friday.

Subway crime down, arrests up after NYPD surge: Adams

Data shows that arrests and summonses increased dramatically since 1,200 cops flooded the system in October.

Over the course of the last year several years, my family has needed the genuine help of police on a few occasions and essentially without fail they have failed to provide it, often making us feel worse in the process. Many others have substantially worse experiences.

It is particularly touching that this ceremony commemorating the Holocaust took place at Babi Yar, the site of a Nazi mass execution of nearly 35,000 Jewish people that took place over two days in 1941 and that was bombed last year by Russia.
Don't look now, but New York is emerging as the home of the clean energy industrial economy. https://subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2023/01/offshore-wind-developers-propose-new-york-made-turbines-00079681
POLITICO Pro: Offshore wind developers propose New York-made turbines

Proposals to invest in blades and nacelles built in New York could qualify for up to $300 million in state investments.

We are absolutely 100% winning.

The question is not whether we will win, it's whether we will win fast enough.

WE ARE NOT WINNING. Former Vice President of the USA says the people who run our world and economy are driving us towards global cataclysm. Where are our cultural and political leaders? They need to raise the alarm and demand action NOW #ClimateEmergency http://ox.ac.uk/news/2021-08-0…

Such great context. Hochul's absolutely essential housing proposals would still fall short of the 1920s construction boom when the city was substantially smaller.

New York needs this.
