The 21sth Annual Vancouver Island Short Film Festival in Nanaimo BC, is looking for a Festival Director! Join our fun team and help coordinate our annual two-day short film festival in April 2026. The Festival Director is an 8-month part time contract to manage the festival under the direction of the Board of Directors. We are looking for an enthusiastic person interested in hybrid position, to start in September.

Hey friends, At the end of last year’s Desert Bus for Hope, James and Andrew teased a smaller event that would be happening in May, and we’re happy to share some more details about what we’re calling Desert Bus Express. Starting on Friday, May 23rd, 2025 at 4pm PDT, for 24 hours, we’re going to be driving the virtual Desert Bus from Tucson to Las Vegas. Instead of donations extending our run, we’re aiming for the biggest impact we can make in a single day, all in service to the BC Cancer Founda
If you are in Nanaimo tomorrow (Wednesday) you should join us for the National Film Day Screening of "Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person" at Vancouver Island University (bld 356, room 109) at 8PM. There will be popcorn, entry by donation.
I've watched "The Zone of Interest" (2023) twice and was blown away by the vibe and, of course, the terrifying audio.
What I did not know is that it was shot with practically zero crew using remote-controlled hidden cameras.
