Just a simple guy curious about lots of things. I fly planes, I enjoy a good game of football, and I occasionally write code. And if you’re wondering, I am fluent in Portuguese.
I have been a Macintosh user for quite some time now and I have never, not once, not a single time, correctly distinguished "brew update" from "brew upgrade" on the first try
@gruber your NFL post inspired me to write this https://www.victorrodrigues.com/posts/2026-01/how-nfl-works/. Had Claude help with this, and I haven't fact-checked everything.

The sound of this balloon being popped in a cooling tower is amazing.
@gruber Ultra 3, although I've just noticed you changed it.
@siracusa Love, Death & Robots Season 4 releasing on 15th May.
@gruber, just for correctness-sake those young earth creationists believe the earth is 6000 years old. They'll nitpick 😉.
I know it might seem crazy to pay for web search. I find Kagi so useful, it’s among the best subscription values I pay for each month. It’s just plain better than Google’s or anyone else’s results. The fact that it’s ad-free is a bonus, not for me the primary reason I gladly pay. I pay because it’s better. It’s like the HBO of web search.

I’ve been using Kagi for searching the web for two months now. I love it so much I’ve just paid for an annual subscription. Try it. No adverts, no AI slop, just the refreshing experience of finding what you are actually searching for. #Kagi https://kagi.com

Every time I get into a car with lots of physical controls I always think of the @atpfm guys. Recently while in Europe I rented a Volvo XC40 (just what they gave me) and I took me ages to figure out how to unfold the side mirrors, after having realised that they were folded as I was pulling out of the garage. On the unmentionable you tap the car icon -> Controls -> Unfold Mirrors. I'm convinced that 99% of people would of figured that out rather than having to figure out that pressing on both the left and right side mirror buttons simultaneously would unfold them. Just a small example of why physical buttons aren't always best—IMHO of course.
