Remember when Emacs was the largest memory hog of all the software you could possibly run on your computer? Regardless of Windows, Linux, etc?
I sure do.
Today, it's easily one of the leanest programs. As I type this, Firefox is taking up almost 6.3GB of memory, with all of 3 tabs open. Emacs just *barely* breached 700MB with 9 buffers open, a bunch of eLisp code compiled, and using GTK 2 for its UI.
