A Moscow court on December 9, 2022 sentenced a Russian opposition politician to eight and years in prison with an additional four-year ban on use of the internet, in a continued efforts to dismantle and decapitate Russia’s peaceful political opposition and silence any criticism of the Kremlin’s war against Ukraine, Human Rights Watch said today.

Wonderful talkback on the women-led protest movement in Iran with Dr. Asef Bayat (Sociology), social justice artist Nasrin Navab, and Mahbobeh Moghadam.
In 1965, when the Moscow Art Theatre returned to the US, it performed 3 plays by Chekhov and one contemporary Soviet play. The tour was meant to undermine anti-Russian sentiment after the Cuban Missile Crisis. I'm seeing some evidence that Chekhov is once again being used for this sort of mission....(in case others get invitations from Russia to participate in apolitical-seeming collaborations).

Months ago, I won this postcard and stamp set in an auction by Kherson’s Mikola Kulish Theatre. I told them don’t worry about sending to me, but as soon as the post office in Kyiv reopened, they were sent to me. I received them today. #KhersonisUkraine
