I've recently been researching interspecies communication & what multi-species governance might be like. Building on this, here's video from the 'More Than Human Citizen Assembly' @lingQL & I hosted recently to explore how we might make collective decisions with our non-human neighbours. Participants' subjective data was combined with real-time & context data as inputs to an AI/LLM so we could simulate conversations with trees, their opinions and concerns, and take votes on collective action...
Looking for someone to video document a 2 hour workshop in Porto, Portugal this Saturday morning, anyone who's based in Porto available or can recommend? (please share) @lingQL and I are putting together a More-Than-Human Citizen Assembly as an immersive interactive fiction at Festa do Outono, using AI/LLM to create a conversational interface for some of the non-human inhabitants of the park, so we can see what it's like to deliberate and make collective multi-species decisions about the future.
I'm using OpenAI's LLM to help me have an open-ended conversation with my olive tree, planted on a roof terrace in London. My goal is to make it less anthropocentric in its responses, but still intelligible in my own stunted (anthropocentric) language. It's going about as well as you might imagine.... (The weather station data and sensor values that feed into the model are simulated for the moment).
every decade or so i prune my domains (there are dozens), allow the ones that never turned into something fun to expire, and clean out the dusty server that hosted their dusty files. without fail this takes me ten times longer than it feels like it should. this week's prune includes southvoice.org – something i setup for my father about 20 years ago, which i've held on to for sentimental reasons. anyone have a project that could use the domain? i'd love for it to go to a good home...
Broken Spectre, absolutely stunning exhibition (incl 74min film) by Richard Mosse, at 180 Strand, about ongoing environmental devastation in the Amazonian rainforest. My only hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending is that tickets are expensive, and this work needs to be seen as widely as possible. This clip is from a section where the person says something like "I don't need you to make a film about us, I need you to do something to help us, to make things change". https://www.180thestrand.com/richard-mosse
