@duxsco @mgorny Just call it an OS

#GrapheneOS

@duxsco @mgorny

The use of the word ROM to describe GrapheneOS is a misnomer.

You can read more about that and why its important not to call it a ROM here: https://akc3n.page/posts/grapheneos-is-not-a-rom/

GrapheneOS is not a ROM!

GrapheneOS is an Operating System!

akc3n's page of notes

@duxsco @mgorny GrapheneOS is not a ROM. It is a hardened operating system for mobile devices with a strong focus on privacy and security.

It is only available on Google Pixels currently because they are the only devices which provide proper support for verified boot of aftermarket operating systems, in addition to a number of other security features:

@skaficianado

99% of features work with the sandboxed GPS, but there are a few that don't, for example, those that depend on Play Integrity API.

I'd recommend asking your question on our community forum: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/
It's very actively used, and somebody who also uses the app is likely to see it and be able to help you further.

Edit: fix minor typo

@skaficianado Hi there, I don't personally use the Garmin Connect app. Am I understanding correctly that's what you're wanting to use? #GCM

As far as I understand most features of the Garmin Connect app do work on #GrapheneOS provided you install sandboxed Google Play Services (GPS). #GrapheneOS features a compatibility layer such that teaches Google Play Services to work in the normal app sandbox.

@Digitaluntertauchen @kuketzblog

Banking Applications Compatibility with GrapheneOS

Maintained Compatibility List for International Banking Apps This list includes banking apps that have been tested, submitted, reviewed, and verified as compatible. LIST | SUBMIT | UPDATE | POSSIBLE WORKAROUND SOLUTIONS Introduction Welcome to the crowd-sourced dataset for GrapheneOS users on currently supported devices. New visitors are encouraged to read the official usage guide on banking apps for comprehensive details about how these apps function on GrapheneOS. IMPORTANT Please read GrapheneOS’s important announcement, officially released on Dec 1, 2023:

@unixviking You can view the battery usage of all your apps by going to Settings > Battery > Battery usage.

If you are worried about the battery usage of a particular app you can restrict its battery usage. But that might mean some things don't work as expected, for example, notifications from that app.

For most apps you should leave the battery setting as the default optimized state.
