Literally ONE OF THE MOST PIVOTAL SCENES/EVENTS IN MY ENTIRE WEBNOVEL popped out randomly while I was writing, and it fundamentally changed so much of the rest of the plot, but in a way that works perfectly. I can only blame my subconscious, because even when I edit the stuff that happened before that random add-in, it continues to make sense. The human imagination truly is a wild thing.

holy moley this is amazing. The idea that even TOLKIEN had all these random characters and events popping into his story as he wrote without having them fully fleshed out ahead of time is very liberating as a writer as well. So much of what's become an integral part of my own webnovel started from some random thing that came out while I was writing, that left me scrambling to figure out how it fit into the rest of the plot. And once it did, I went "holy crap, that makes perfect sense."
