Homebox V0.23.0 Released! - Lemmy.World
Homebox v0.23.0 released! Homebox is proud to announce the release of version
v0.23.0! But first, what is Homebox? Homebox [https://homebox.software/] is the
inventory and organization system built for the Home User! With a focus on
simplicity and ease of use. Homebox is the perfect solution for your home
inventory, organization, and management needs. About the update We have
officially released v0.23.0 and at the same time are continuing to make progress
towards v1 (stable). This release covers a range of new features and bug fixes,
including: * Removal of 32-bit Support - Starting with this release, Homebox is
no longer available in 32bit forms, this include ARMv7 and older, and x86
processors. * Collections - Users can now be part of multiple collections; each
collection is entirely separate and unique. This gives users more flexibility
than ever when managing inventories, especially across different homes or shared
spaces. * User Management - Along with collections, we’ve added some basic user
management capabilities for collections. This is not yet full blown “Super User”
type management, but it does make things a little bit easier. * Authentication
Rate Limiting - We’ve also introduced a new rate limiting middleware for
authentication requests, helping to further secure Homebox against brute force
attacks. * Better Memory Management - Attachment uploads now use less memory
thanks to improved optimizations in handling. Additionally, CSV imports no
longer read the entire file just to determine a delimitator (which caused both
memory and performance issues) * MQTT Client Now Available in Docker Containers
- The MQTT client is now available in the regular and rootless docker
containers, Hardened docker containers do not have the MQTT client due to the
distroless nature of that container image. * … And much more! You can see a full
list of changes here: Changelog

changing our release cycle to be more consistent and to have more testing, you
can read more about it here: Homebox Testing and Release Changes
[https://blog.homebox.software/homebox-testing-and-release-changes/] Caution You
can not revert back to a previous version of Homebox after upgrading to this
release due to SQL > schema changes. Always ensure that you have functioning
backups before upgrading. What about V1…? Great news! We’re making some solid
progress towards a v1 release, and have documented our roadmap update

Homebox v0.23.0 Release Candidate 1 Available - Lemmy.World
Following our new release cycle (which you can read about on our blog
[https://blog.homebox.software/homebox-testing-and-release-changes/]) we’re
making the first release candidate available for the v0.23.0 release. Some of
the new features in this release include: - Collections, essentially the ability
to easily share your inventory and manage multiple inventories with a single
account. - Renaming labels to tags (to reduce confusion with item labels). -
Lots of bug fixes :) > BACKUPS > > Always backup homebox before updating
versions, especially for release candidates. Generally we would recommend not
using the release candidate for any production servers in case of critical bugs.

bugs or have any feedback on the release candidate feel free to share it here,

support the projects that you run. https://www.pikapods.com/pods?run=homebox
[https://www.pikapods.com/pods?run=homebox] Full disclosure the HomeBox
OpenCollective will recieve a small amount in revshare from people hosting
HomeBox on Pikapods, this is used to help fund future development of HomeBox.

Coming soon to Homebox: Manage multiple collections, share, and collaborate with ease - Lemmy.World
We are excited to share that a long-requested feature is making major progress:
the ability to manage multiple inventories, which we are calling Collections.
This has been a lot of work, but once released, Collections will allow you to: *
Easily share and collaborate on your inventories with others. * Keep separate
inventories for different contexts (e.g. your workshop vs your house). *
Organise your items more effectively than ever before. We are aiming to get this
out in our next release (targeting around 30th Jan), though as always, this
depends on development and testing time. The initial release as planned will not
include features like rbac (e.g. different roles within a collection) though
this is planned for a future release. Want to dive deeper? * Read about what
collections are and the decisions we made:
