My laptop LCD does weird things ... for instance here I have gimp with in the middle a pixel checker board pattern (white / black alternating pixel ) and that makes a "band" appear on the same lines where the pattern is ....

Some other pixel patterns can make the area flicker slightly..

Just went to Zagreb 's newly opened (today !) Video Game History Museum ( https://vghm.hr/ ).

Worth a visit for sure !

A lot of the familiar consoles from 70s to 2000s and a few unfamiliar ones too. You can also play games for some of them (on emulated hardware for the most part).

Also first time I saw a Vectrex running 😁

No way to convey in a single picture how gorgeous this place is #Plitvice #plitvicelakesnationalpark #croatia
Progress ... although still some unexplained behavior ...

I can get it to draw some frames (maybe just 1, hard to know TBH), but then, it hangs.

And the cards needs a PCI bus reset to do anything after that. ( Without it, mojo shows the card, but the TMU "PowerOn Sense shows `dead` and number of TMU is 57005 == 0xdead ).

So something hangs in the hardware but I'm not really sure what 😢

Note that I'm not sure the card works to begin with. It was sold as working but I have no way to verify that.

Some progress :

That is the 'mojo' diagnostic tool running in DOSBox on the RPi5, talking to the physical Voodoo2 card attached to it 🎉

R&S is the most customer hostile T&M company I've ever had to deal with.

Asking about some info about option boards for discontinued products (install guides / jumper config) and all they sent back is a multi k$ quote.

Just requesting access to the "Downloads" section of their website to get latest firmware and manuals for FSQ8 was refused.

By opposition, faced with similar request, Keysight support went out of their way to send me the schematics of the boards I was asking about !

Building a mini SDR with custom silicon.

I combined a couple of projects from TT6 and TT7 and receive some FM modulated signals !

Go watch the video if that sounds cool : https://youtu.be/ynHy9gpcBgc

Other than terrible packaging that's nowhere ESD safe, the chips themselves look real and the balls look ok to me. Some corners are a bit chipped, but nothing there I can see.
Obviously will need baking before reflow.

They did screw up and sent a wrong chip. I ordered two PEX8606 and one of them is a PEX8608. I don't mind, the 8608 has more PCIe lanes but same pinout. ( The 8606 and 8604 are probably the same die with lanes fused off or something ).

It works 🎉

Ok, the setup is very janky because of a couple of issue :

* I of course screwed up TX/RX at one place, so the usb3 connector part didn't work, had to go through the slot to go to the device, ugly but it worked.

And I swear I had tripled checked ... still screwed up :/

* The SN75lLVPE802 is meant for SATA not PCIe and doesn't have DC termination. The datasheet say you can use it for PCIe and use 330R to GND to make PCIe RX detect work.

That doesn't work :/ Had to use lower R.
