SomaFM has been up a remarkable number of years, more or less in its current format. It’s not everyone’s jam, but props to them to keep a good thing going.

This almost feels like a bet, or an experiment, by social media political manipulators. Like, one guy says to another, “I bet I can make Cracker Barrel change their logo back in less than two weeks using nothing more than a social media outage campaign.” “Deal.”

And then they do it, with some carefully planted posts across many platforms, and some well-placed calls to conservative commentators, calling attention to those posts. They successfully demonstrate their social media manipulating prowess, and ultimately sell their wares for the upcoming election cycle.

I mean, they do have a voting block that regularly donates to televangelists… Those extra private jets have to come from somewhere.

I have the “Complete Collection” box set, and I broke my 10 year-old son’s heart when, after he finished the whole thing, I had to tell him that there were no more. I think they made him a better kid.

Big hospitals still have them to send medications and random lightweight stuff around the complex. My wife has worked in two large hospitals that had pretty extensive tube systems, used especially with pharmacy.

In the suburbs of a middle-sized city in Ohio, USA. So midwest, but a bit older, higher-density, and more northeastern suburban layout than, say, Iowa. Built up in the 1960s-70s. Almost all single-family suburban homes on large lots.

Texas gets kinda hot in the summer.

I’ve used it off and on for a couple of years without issue, installing the helper app from the .deb file directed to me by the plugin. I have scanned it for viruses and watched for strange behavior, and I haven’t observed anything suspicious. It runs as the current user, no elevated privileges required.
