I've worked in the same clinic for 20 years now. I never thought I'd be in one place for so long. I had a few thoughts on being a GP for a long time in the

I can't read this article, because paywall, but I can read The Guardian, because not paywall, so who knows?
I'm sure I'm not the only person to post this, but it does seem relevant *right now*.
Today is National Viola Day (I don't know which country - it should be wherever you are right now!)
This gives me a great excuse to remember the beautiful piece I commissioned during the COVID lockdowns, played amazingly by Katie Yap.

You'll notice that what I'm arguing for - because *all* evidence points this way - is properly funded primary health care - relationship-based, continuity over time, comprehensive.
ACCHOs do this well, though all of primary care could do so much more with proper funding.
Recommendation 5
Develop health policy and funding that promotes health equity
Apply a socioeconomic lens to all health policy (as well as rural/remote and First Nations lenses).
You'd be surprised how rarely this is done currently in Australia.
Recommendation 4
Develop the Deep End GP Workforce
Get extra GPs into Deep End areas – teach Deep End skills, fund Health Equity Fellows,
(Other health professionals, too of course - for proper team-based care, NOT for task substitution.)
Recommendation 3
Support local action on social circumstances affecting health
Support local action on food security, on housing, on access to nature and physical activity. ACCHOs do this already, but everyone needs access.
