@john @chris I'm a web developer with an agency of about 100+ employees. We're about 40% remote normally, 100% with the pandemic. Everyone pretty much is allowed to choose their preferred system so we have Linux/Mac/Windows. I'd say that the number of Linux machines is probably the minority. Before my current job I was using my personal Chromebook using Citrix to connect to a remote Windows desktop.
@ericmann I totally hear you there. My family, at least my parents, were understanding but my in-laws weren't very happy. I've also had guys that I've hung out and played boardgames with like monthly basically scoffing at everything COVID and have been frustrated. I'm hoping that I'll be able to put all of this behind me at some point and I can hang out with people again.
@chris @john I'm now trying to figure out if there is a docking station setup that is going to work for me. I do move the machine from my office to upstairs every day since it's pretty much the only machine I'm using for work and personal atm. My daughter commandeered my Chromebook since she's doing homeschool now.
@chris @john my work just ordered me an new Oryx Pro and I realized after the fact that I was giving up USB-C charging. I'm bummed but I needed a powerful machine since I've been having so many problems on my current Dell XPS 13. Given this year of pandemic and working 100% at home I figured a bigger machine wasn't going to be a big deal.
@ericmann so my work just ordered me an Oryx Pro, is yours your daily driver? If it was at one point what were your must have/recommended accessories? I'm wondering about a dock for mine. Been using a USB-C dock to drive everything but not sure that it's going to work with the Oryx. I'm going to be missing the PD USB-C charging.

@chris I did give Gnome Web a try a little bit, but it doesn't have all the extensions I use regularly on Chrome. https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Web

@ericmann yeah, I've tried to take a POSE approach using my blog as the source, unfortunately the social networks and tooling keeps breaking down and making that more impossible. I can no longer schedule posts from my blog to Instagram or Facebook (though I left Facebook behind at the started of the pandemic so this isn't really a concern now). And posting to Mastodon has been broken for some time.

@ericmann I too have been struggling to find a solid way to feed Mastodon from my WordPress site. I tried setting up my site as part of the fediverse where you could actually follow my site directly via Mastodon. It started to work then didn't. And it seems to be a major problem of you use Let's Encrypt SSL certificates.

I'd be very interested to hear about any good solutions you find.
