@EleanorFrajka This has terrified me ever since I heard of it 20 years ago at a wetlands conference. We shouldn't have been yammering about "climate change"; we should have been jumping up and down with our hair on fire about "seasons unpredictability." If you don't know what the weather is going to be like 30 days from now, it could be anything, how the hell do you grow crops? Don't know where the tipping point is? Well, we've effed around and if we keep at it, we're going to find out.
@scalzi Well said. Sadly, yesterday, my first day on Mastadon, I posted a joke and two men immediately felt the need to mansplain to me why my opinion was inferior. It kinda bummed me out for the rest of the night. I need to find out how to block people.
@ryanhoulihan I'm sorry, I didn't mean to seem confrontational. I have a wonderful relationship with my son but lots of families have kids that are flat hostile to parental input during adolescence. I'm trying to evolve from being pissed off by all the blame for today's problems being dumped on us Boomers, when vast millions of us have spent our entire lives working hard to make life better for everyone. I'm a person online trying to get people to think rather than blame.
@ryanhoulihan Boomer here. You should also ask how many of Gen Z actually wanted to learn anything at all from their parents. Also, how many Boomers' parents (who had grown up and struggled/suffered through the Great Depression and two world wars) so eagerly embraced the advances that made some of that labor much easier that they didn't think their kids (us Boomers) would ever need to know them. As for our medical system - you really think any of us Boomers understand it? It's screwing us, too.
Annnd I see it publishes full size. Good to know. I am years behind on navigating social media, sorry. Still learning.

Hi - I mostly signed on here to follow a few folks I'd been following on that other social media page that is now swirling down the toilet. I may not post much but will check by regularly to see what's up. By all accounts, this is a nice space. I'll poke around and see what's happening.

Here's a cat picture to get me started:
--Okay, it's showing up for me as a very wide and very shallow section of the original picture. Obviously I don't know how to insert photos here. Will be back ...
