Yeah I have heard of revoltchat,
while I think its very cool, I have had so much trouble trying to get everything setup right. It relies a lot (imo almost too heavily) on the microservices arch. While that might make it easier to deploy on a prod environment or a kubernetes cluster, its hard to get working well on a single machine.

That said xmpp is awesome and I dont see me leaving it any time soon.

Yeah
my experience with my current matrix homeserver has been... slow...
Last time I opened fluffychat (one of my clients), it took a whole 5 minutes to fetch everything.

and while discord as a service has soured in the last couple of years, the concepts behind it are something I really quite like. Ive had in the back of my mind a project to develop some sort of clone (protcol wise).
I know Im not super active on this account, but a new "update" for homunkulus is here.

In actuality I have now made the git repo accesible at https://code.kyaruc.moe/theorytoe/homunkulus

When people discover that I am a computer nerd, almost always they make a comment on something. This is my the software that I actually use. There’s some genericisim (is that even a word?) in this list, but I’m bored and need to write something. Thus begins the uninteresting list. Window Manager Awesomewm Awesome is the second window manager I have used.
