I like headphones and records. I make software that helps people buy/sell houses. Dad to girls.
@daringfireball As a kid I grew up with these and read them most nights to my own 3 year old, this hits in the double feels.
@marcoarment you should have sent a WUPHF! WUPHF.COM!
@snazzyq If you require macOS, with 32 gb RAM and 2TB of built on storage... it's still the cheapest desktop Mac you can buy. You can wish it were cheaper, but if macOS are table stakes for you just suck up and pay the price, yeah?
@jan Sennheiser over Beyer any day. For open backed headphones, Hifiman has some deals on amazing sounding headphones that are hard to beat.

DCA E3, the best closed back headphone I've heard, for when you really don't want to hear the room noise in your office. What a great sounding headphone.

I don't think it sounds better than the Susvara, but I probably use it more, because of it's able to reduce outside noise.

Fantastic headphone!

The Hifiman Susvara is insane-o. No other way to describe it. All of the qualities of the HE6 but bigger... wider... more detailed. Requires bonkers amplification but the Schiit Ragnarok.2 has been up to the task.

It's so good, and so comfortable, I have no idea why I would listen to anything else. But for some reason I get nervous putting my best headphone on my head, and end up listening to other things. People are weird.

Actually, no, I hate this thing. It's pretty, but I have to literally force every album onto it. It's too tight.

The Hifiman HE6 late production 4-screw version. I paid a silly amount of money to get the original HE6 from a seller in Ireland in 2021. After a month the headband exploded, and I replaced it with a Hifiman replacement that is equivalent, if not as nice. The screws in this thing strip if you look at them funny, a pain to repair.

They sound amazing, and are a great compliment to the Schiit Ragnarok 2. But this is not where the journey ends.

This is where things get nuts. The Hifiman HE6SEV2 was bought after I had picked up the Schiit Ragnarok 2, a crazy integrated amp that can drive speakers or put the full speaker power into headphones. Perfect for these monsters. Everything I liked about the HE4XX but turned up. Deep linear bass. Clarity!

Yet people say they aren't as impactful as the original...

At the same time as the 6XX I got the Hifiman HE4XX, thinking I'd return one and keep one. They were different enough that I kept them both. Honestly ended up using the 4XX more, which led me to go crazy with the next pair...

Show here with ZMF Ori pads, which are super comfy.
