Oh man, I can’t even imagine the devastation you felt. I am so sorry that happened, and I’m grateful that you can talk about it now.
I use Textra on Android and I can select which parts of a message to copy. I’m using the paid version and have for years, so I’m not sure whether that’s a standard feature or premium. The day Messages stopped letting me color-code each conversation was the day I quit using it; I can’t tell you how many times each person being a distinct color has saved my ass from texting the wrong stuff to the wrong person.

Hurray! And then, if we can all stop pretending that pregnancy is magic and babies are awesome, maybe mothers will feel less monstrous when they’re struggling and more willing to seek help.

Pregnancy and mothering an infant was the hardest and worst extended period in my life - I’ve had individual, shorter worse experiences, but that was the longest stretch of misery I’ve had. Meanwhile, people were telling me that I should savor every moment because it just gets harder! 🤦😂 I can laugh about that now, but jfc did it make me suicidal to think that!

If you’re suffering through that period too and surrounded by people telling you how awesome it is - maybe that was their experience, but it’s totally okay if it isn’t yours, because it wasn’t mine either, but things got better. Once your child can communicate, that lessens the difficulty dramatically. And if you ever wanna bitch to a sympathetic mom who is open about the shitshow it all can be, I am here for it. ❤️

US has imperial for everything but guns and drugs

If we’re talking legal drugs, my prescriptions all come in milligrams.

If we’re talking illegal drugs, though fractions of ounces or pounds were more common, it wasn’t unusual to come across someone selling stuff by the gram back in the day, and I can’t imagine that’s changed. The weed dude would sell any amount at $10/gram - and yes, I did see someone come with $3 once. 😂 I don’t remember the coke dude’s prices because that was much longer ago, but he was also totally fine with selling single grams.

Maybe my experience was different because I live in a college town, so the black market was supportive of the small purchases necessitated by student budgets.

I think they’d pull in even more if the DA were signing them, but I don’t see any reason to not offer a variety of signature options. They might even sell some to Republicans if they do a Trump-signed version.
the August 2023 Beehaw financial update - Beehaw

obligatory preface: we’re 100%-user funded and everything you donate to us specifically goes to the website, or any outside labor we pay to do something for us. ### overall expenses this month: $523.79 as expected, a full month of running on last month’s setup has come in pretty high. luckily, we expect downsizing to begin this month (and we have a pretty good idea of what we’re going to do) so this will be our last month of costs at this scale. our initial estimation is that we can halve or better what we’re paying now on a monthly basis. $428.73 for Digital Ocean hosting, which can be further subdivided into - $336.00 for hosting the site itself - $67.20 for backups - $25.53 for site snapshots $28.87 for Hive, an internal chat platform we’ve set up (also being hosted on Digital Ocean) - $24.07 for hosting Hive - $4.80 for backups ~$39.16 for email functionality, which can be further subdivided into - $35/mo for Mailgun (handles outbound emails, so approval/denial/notifications emails; also lets us not get marked as spam) - ~$4.16/mo ($50/yr, already paid in full) for Fastmail (handles all inbound emails) $22.87 for BackBlaze (redundant backup system that’s standalone from Digital Ocean) ### overall contributions this month: $1,310.90 support still more than covers our expenses, and particularly with our upcoming downsizing we don’t believe this will be a problem. breakdown is: - 100 monthly contributions, totaling $624.95 - 2 yearly contributions, totaling $67.10 - 36 one-time donations, totaling $618.85 between monthly and yearly contributions we are still sustainable overall—but now that the Reddit bump has ebbed most of our savings will come in the form of lowering costs and not “sheer amount of money being thrown our way.” ### total end of month balance: $4,347.79 #### expense runway, assuming no further donations - assuming expenses like ours this month: we have about 8 months and one week of runway

Don’t we eventually find out the AIs are oppressing the humans and siphoning off their life-force/brain-power through the use of the portal system and that humanity’s actual salvation comes from deeply believing in the power of love to the point of developing the ability to teleport to beloved places and people?
I’m very interested in this proverb! How do you use it? Is it sorta the same as “don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched”?
That cat is straight up high off the thrill of that box! Mine only get stars in their eyes like that when they’re lusting after my cereal milk.
