@pluralistic I've known a lot of Epic employees over the years, which ultimately means I know a ton of former Epic employees.
Their MO is to hire recent college grads who don't have other work experience and throw enough money at them that they're afraid to say no to the hours they make them work. Their software is buried under decades of technical debt and is written in languages that no one else uses anymore. Burnout is very high.
The biggest thing missing from Mastodon remains the ability to *actually* migrate an account between servers.
The follower-migrate feature is not enough. I need to be able to migrate an entire account, including posts. And I should be able to do it without the former server cooperating (because of course servers can go down). I should be able to get some sort of cryptographic cert I can send to a new server with my posts and they'll be like "oh yeah, this is real, migrating u now".
I'm usually not big on remakes/remasters, particularly when it comes to adding HD graphics to older games...
...but the remaster of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective looks like it was done very faithfully to the original release, and I'm stoked that I'll be able to recommend the game to people without the caveat that it was only ever released for DS and iOS (and a legit copy of the original DS version is pretty pricey nowadays).
Play Ghost Trick. It's fantastic.
So, the Prince of Persia "red box" artwork just sold at auction this week... for $63,000!
