It's been a while since I've posted anything here from my plotting and I must admit it's mainly because I don't get around to plotting much anymore! I have decided that it is time for my DPX 3300 to find a new loving home. I paid around 75 euro for it and I'm passing it on for the same price. It is in working condition (only the serial port works, parallel does not). It comes with a USB adapter and is located in central Jutland (DK). PM me if you're interested! It's a great ol' machine.
Another attempt at a #plotswap with original file by @tca This time I restricted the plot to A6 postcards in white gel and 0.05 fine liner. I think the original was meant for a much larger plot so I wanted to experiment with the size.

@tca this is what failure looks like! I was really excited to do a white on red of your running dog but the plotter drifted again…
I did another #plotswap but this time the original is by @nclslbrn This is 0.4 fine liner plotted twice as slow as my plotter will go. It’s 51x51 cm.

Second #plotswap attempt, this time silver gel ink on A4 of art by @jeffpalmer I really like how the overlapping lines turned out on this one!
My previous attempt failed because my plotter sometimes gets stuck on the y axis and loses count. Something to look into!
I’m really enjoying the project and the way I’m getting a much deeper insight into other artists methods. Thanks all

First attempt at #plotswap. Original artwork is from @jeffpalmer. My attempt is gold gel ink on 649/501mm black card stock. It looks great but unfortunately the top right corner is missing and I have no idea why - it's such a clean cut! This is the most lines I've done in a row on the plotter so the swap is already teaching me something.

I've published the extension I use for making generative art in Inkscape. It's called lirror and can be downloaded https://inkscape.org/~tgk/%E2%98%85lirror. The source is available at https://github.com/tgk/lirror.

lirror on the Inkscape website

Inkscape extension for creating generative art. The scope of this extension has been kept very minimal. It simply takes the selected object(s) and creates the specified number of copies of it. Each new copy will have a cumulative transformation applied to it where each transformation consists of - a rotation around 0,0 (top left of the canvas), - a shift in x and y, and - a scale operation in x and y. The rotation and shift operation can be done either lineraly (the same amount for every copy) or by a sinusidal factor (oscillating for each copy). The source is available at https://github.com/tgk/lirror

Late night plot, gold on A4 using my Roland DPX3300. The vectors were created in Inkscape using my homemade extension which just needs a bit more work before it can be made public.
