Got my new capacitor. But why does it have four terminals? (A quick multimeter check confirms that each pair is connected together)
Look, if a core Bitcoin developer can get their whole wallet emptied out unrecoverably on them, and that developer's immediate reflex is to start calling a centralized authority for help, it's time to stop pretending this entire cryptocurrency exercise is ever going to work. We're done here.

"I don't understand your language! I'm from russia!" says one of the "protesters" to a local journalist in Moldova today.

This is all you need to know about these "protests" against the pro-western government in Chisinau... đŸ˜‚đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž

STOP USING “REFUTES” AS A SYNONYM FOR “DENIES.” I just saw a headline claiming George Santos “refutes” new allegations against him. Needless to say, he hasn’t refuted anything. He’s denied allegations, and is almost certainly lying. Sloppy usage misleads readers.
I think snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef is the best value for time and money tourist activity in Australia. But I haven’t visited much of Australia, what are other contenders?
ChatGPT has an interesting behavior: it often gives you a partially incorrect answer, but when you challenge it, it can “fix” it. For instance i asked it “Write a program in Atmel AVR assembly which checks if a 16 bit number is prime”. It wrote a program which looked OK — but it asserted (in a comment!) that dividing by two gave the square root, and it invented a MOD instruction which the AVR doesn’t have. I said “Division by 2 doesn’t calculate the square root of a number”. It said “You are correct, division by 2 does not calculate the square root of a number. My mistake!”. It invented a non-existent SQRT instruction! Challenged on the existence of those instructions it said “I must have been thinking of a different instruction set” and replaced each with some completely spurious code to “find a square root using a binary search” and equally spurious code to do a division and check for a remainder.

Me, writing work emails after reading #JaneAusten:

“My dear Dr. Dashwood—
I trust that you and your graduate students remain in good health. Praise for your latest article is on everyone’s lips. I have not the smallest wish to vex you, but circumstances compel me to trouble you for a meeting. There is not a moment to be lost. I flatter myself that you will endeavour to fill out this Whenisgood poll before Michaelmas.
Until then I remain,
Your humble servant— S.” đŸȘ¶
