Hi beautiful people!

A trans girl from Poland needs your help to get rid of an awful tooth ache she's been suffering for about a week now, because she can't afford treatment.

She talked to her dentist and said that due to lack of previous treatment (lack of money) there is no other choice than root canal treatment at this point.

Healthcare in Poland is in a dire state and queues to specialists are very long, which leaves you empty handed. In case of suffering, this is something absolutely inhumane.

I've been doing a bit better financially myself, despite not being able to afford housing I have a place to state because of my amazing friend. Therefore, please let me use this platform to help someone else.

She needs 800 PLN which translates to 200 USD~. We're currently at 21/200 USD.

Would you be interested in a psychologist offering free sessions for trans folks? Do you think it’s a good idea?

I’m thinking about perusing psychology to help other trans people. I’m very much frustrated with how the system looks at this point. I know many of us struggle with mental health, I’m in that group myself. I also know how expensive therapy can be, not even talking about diagnosis if anyone needs one.

I really want to fix that somehow and I’ve been thinking about getting a degree with a goal of offering therapy for trans people in need.

@eyes Considering than I was blocked: I think sometimes you need to give someone who wants to learn and has a friendly attitude a benefit of the doubt ;) I think ableism is a very toxic part of gaming community, but I’ve never said there is any excuse for it. I don’t want to identify myself with anyone who acts with a bad intent towards disabled people and uses them as a slur. Not every gamer is the same. There are plethora of gaming spaces with all kinds of people in them. Whatever your stance on that is, you need to acknowledge there is nuance to most problems.

Firstly, I’m happy to have been educated on these kind of topics. Many young people growing up in these kinds of environments are not. There is a distinct difference between using ableist slurs without consciousness and awareness of their origin, and using them with hatred towards people with disabilities. Both of these are bad and harmful towards disabled people, but I think in the first case you have a much higher chance to talk someone out from making these kinds of mistakes.

That’s my problem with the attitude of some leftist - elitism. Acting like there is no justification for not knowing better. Reading your response, I think you would consider an angry 12 yo kid playing Fortnite screaming to the mic fascist. I think that’s a bit too far. People like that have a lot of time and space to educate themselves.

I love gaming and many communities based on it. Playing games was one of the things that helped me realise I’m trans. That said, it would be disingenuous to say that it’s without its problems.
It’s shocking to me how desensitised gaming has made me towards ableist. Constant use of r-slurs etc. is such a common thing in online games, that it has become a normal occurrence to me. I don’t mean to say that gaming community is awful tough, I love gaming, it has pretty nice and sweet corners on the internet.
The discourse around using ableist slurs is difficult. Many professionals criticise using words such as “retarded, idiot, imbecile” and they are less present in medical terminology with each day, which is nice to see. However, I’m doing my best to avoid offending anybody. My attitude is that it doesn’t censoring words doesn’t take much work and if I avoid hurting someone that’s great.
On the other hand, considering how rapidly fascist ideology spreads nowadays, I think we’re in no place to nitpick. Edginess is clearly something appealing to young people falling down alt-right pipeline. If finding an edgy leftist YouTuber converts at least some of them down the right path I guess that’s a net benefit? I don’t know, I’m just worried that trying to cancel people over stuff like that might just be a detriment to our community. Best you can do is educate people I suppose.
