Now this guy had a LIFE: Union Army private Mohammad Kahn, AKA John Ammahaeie. Born in Iran, grew up in Afghanistan, migrated to the US in 1861 and joined the Union Army. Fought at Gettysburg and the Wilderness, wounded at Malvern Hill and Spotsylvania.
