🐱 A Poem (Ed. 2)
📝 “Unfed; Awaiting”
🐕—by tbt

[Part 3/3]

A dog. A cat.
A hope that stayed:
still waiting, hungered to forgive
warm shadows still left behind,
cradling softer shadows for warmth
we once shared in breath…
a hope, a love, a home
we sheltered
where once
time waited
still.

🐶 A Poem (Ed. 2)
📝 “Unfed; Awaiting”
🐈—by tbt

[Part 2/3]

Unfolding laundry stacked
like promises and emptied bowls.
Yet still they kept listening—
for softened footsteps,
voices unfed, then unquieting,
as shadows crept
past hallways,
lingering scents
we left at home
between aged laughter
and steady silent walks,
when mornings meant
hasty breakfast:
still unbroken bowls.

[Part 1/3]

A dog. A cat.
Two quiet creatures
fixed beneath shared shadows,
circling rooms… awaiting
missing bowls of food:
unfilled still;
broken; unreplaced.

Footsteps running late—
between traffic and lost time,
like porch lights left
on stormy nights unweathered—
thunder cracking—doors closed;
windows once cracked—now shut.

🧨 ‘75 Bombs

July 1775:
we cue the songs,
liberty and pride…

But these days
it sounds too much
to me, too loud,
like fireworks
I once wished
my parents spoke of.

Not about our Tết,
nor loud red firecrackers
in country homes—
but once-wild dreams,
child-like times before ’75:
a life unburnt, alive
and burning still.
A time unlabeled:
A Refugee;

Việt Kiều.

I wonder—
do firey songs
now sung beneath
drone-lit Gazan skies
sound any different
from the songs my đồng bào
heard as children.

Extra 🍵 for keen watchers 👀
Poem — Alt Title: “July 4th, 1775”

Why? To honor a forgotten history:
carved between American arms & treaty—a nation-building myth lost between Country & Colony.

History doesn’t repeat—it warns.
Don’t let them rewrite it. Silence is complicity.
