What level eng are you when your fuckups end up shaping a completely unrelated team's roadmap? Like, I know cross-functional work is staff, and it's expected, but cross-functional road map definition? Maybe distinguished? Gotta put together a promo packet.

Do you work at Apple and do you want the Files app to be better? Sneak these feedbacks into the relevant pile.

Not working for Apple? Please reboost to increase visibility.

Framed this way, I feel like any team that has had layoffs needs to be very deliberate about not performing heroics to keep things running. Let things fail if they require going above and beyond. What happened to these kids is not a joke, but the way that SFPD is trying to explain their actions should be looked at like one. There were blatant lies told, obvious contradictions made, all adding up to the same thing: these actions are inexcusable. Please go to the previous videos to hear the first hand accounts of folks who were there.

The opposite of “return to office” advocates isn’t “work from home” advocates. It’s a rich tapestry of “open offices are distracting” people and “I’ve never gone this long without being sick” people and “commutes are a waste of time I don’t get paid for” people and “I’m an introvert and playing house with coworkers sucks the life out of me” people and “I have a family and appreciate the flexibility” people and “I primarily communicated with coworkers through Slack anyway” people and “no one wa…
