I think, for me, much like EDLIN, it's pretty much always been a matter of knowing that it was the default editor available in every incarnation of #UNIX and #Linux since, ... I dunno, ... 4.2BSD or so?

Perhaps I should say
vi, and in DOS I don't really recall when EDIT.COM supplanted #EDLIN, but do feel free to checkout my friend's more modern #FREDLIN in the link above. h/t to @dheadshot for creating a POSIX interpretation of that classic utility from the days when disk drives talked to you and diskettes shimmied...

Also, These
#Vim memes are some of the funnest elbows to the ribs of the person sitting next to you we can all enjoy together... unless, unless, Oh my gawd am I on Drugs?

Here's another one for folks to add to their collections, for foshizzles and giggles, of course, and we all can haz
#Cheezburgerz! 🍔

Kindest regards, and thank you for some of the very best cookbook style
#tuts, #HowTo's, and introspectives for the UNIX / Linux / FOSS world on the Internet :)

I'm trying to write a social media post, and I realize I'm writing a blog post instead. They're both the same. There's really no difference at all.

In terms of
ActivityPub however, and depending upon the platform you are publishing from (judging by your address I'll assume WriteFreely), when you click the post/publish button, your document will likely go out as either a note or an article. Some #Fediverse platforms only support notes, but the distinction isn't really all that relevant at all.

What is relevant however, is the permissible character count per post that your particular
instance supports. This, IMO, is why stock mastodon and a very few other platforms suck so much - they only support a paltry 500 character count limit per post - yah, pretty sucky, for anything but what people call a shi%po$t, or a little teaser that leads one away from the Fediverse with a link to some outside resource.

With so many full featured Fediverse platforms like
#WriteFreely, #Friendica, #Hubzilla, And the #Misskey & #Pleroma families of forks, including that of the newish #WordPress_ActivityPub_plugin, There's really no good reason why you can't post a short note or long form #blogpost without having to concern yourself with such annoying distinctions.

Nowadays, with all of the account migration support built into each Fediverse platform, people are leaving mastodon behind in massive numbers to accounts on more capable, feature rich platforms (like the one's mentioned above. Even those who are rather warm the the user interface in masto are migrating in large numbers to masto forks like
#Hometown, #Glitch_soc and other forks that were created to accommodate the severe shortcomings on masto that was basically just a mirror of twitter... and still behaves pretty much like it.

So, since you aren't bound by such restrictions,
you do you, if you've got something to share then go for it - it's still the Fediverse and all of the platforms can receive and boost your work 😃

I'm trying to write a social media post, and I realize I'm writing a blog post instead. Do I follow this inspiration where it leads? I need another blog post, even if it's not the one I told readers I would write next. Perhaps I should harness my ADHD this time, rather than try to contain it. Or do I cut myself off, stick to my to-do list? Perhaps a break will give me clarity. Though if I'm honest, I already know what I want to do. #AmWriting #WritingCommunity #ADHD
