Man, I just read a paper that came out when I was 8 years old—and not reading about encryption—about the Clipper Chip. While the PC version was flawed, if it actually became a standard, we might have an option for more secure communications baked into a lot more devices. I see the flaw only affected the PC version, and not the IC used for voice and analog data, and it’s an interesting flaw that actually let the users set a _more secure_ session that couldn’t be tapped LOL. Instead we have completely unencrypted hard lines, cell towers that negotiate client encryption (or not) and rouge SSL rootCAs/ state controlled CAs. 1995-2010 was like the dark ages for encryption.

Every time I get a group #spam on any chat app, I reply with #russia is a terrorist state, and #putin hulo images. Sadly, I’m no longer getting spam to spread the news. Thinking about some mass sim registration, and posting the phone numbers everywhere, but only using one # per site to see who is compromised, as some kind of canary tool.
I see NBC finds their own study miraculously generated clickbait findings… https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/nbc-news-poll-nearly-70-gop-voters-stand-trump-indictment-investigatio-rcna80917 This runs contrary to many other studies they could have cited, and seems to be created to support a more divisive narrative. #NBC should do better, and stop using your own “polls”. This is a #Fox news move.
NBC News poll: Nearly 70% of GOP voters stand behind Trump amid indictment and investigations

The new NBC News poll shows the GOP rallying around Donald Trump in the wake of his indictment in New York and amid other investigations into his conduct.

Seriously, we don’t need to step backwards into the dark ages, where _any_ religion is treated as law. Religions were a byproduct of a lack of science, and the first widespread use of misinformation to manipulate masses. There is no factual or scientific basis to claim any long-term societal benefit to organized religion. In fact, quite the opposite is true, religions are responsible for more deaths historically than all other weapons combined. Religion languished humanity in the dark ages, where smart people were killed for studying science, and millions were slaughtered over lies and manipulation. Religion is used to oppress women, and deny healthcare to rape victims. Religion is just a nice word for “big cult.” https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/multiple-fronts-republicans-target-church-state-separation-rcna81122
On multiple fronts, Republicans target church-state separation

To the extent that opposition to the separation of church and state faded as a far-right priority, it’s clearly back with a vengeance.

So, a new lower state of matter, like extremely slow moving neutral hydrogen, is the most likely answer in my opinion. But then we need a new state, and a particle, wave, and very very long wave set of proofs to prove it, which would require someone with some real math chops to figure out.
Or it could just be a bunch of boring neutral hydrogen at extremely low densities. Which would suck, because it’s a practical explanation, and not material for sci-fi movies.
Great new studies on the gravitational effects of dark matter emerging. I love this stuff. Dark matter behaves more like a wave than a particle, which makes me wonder if instead of being a new particle, it isn’t a property of all matter, and more like a state of matter than a completely new particle. Ie ‘observable’ matter that interacts with or is affected by light is just a potential state that persists on a very very long frequency before some condition changes its state. Given the only way we have to detect dark matter is by observing is gravitational properties, it would make sense that this change of state from “dark matter” to “normal matter” is a byproduct of the bending on space time caused by gravity… which we already know exists. #physics

One of the worst mistakes our governments made in foreign policy was to recognize the Communist Party of #China as legitimate.

The legitimate government of China is in #Taiwan. It’s time we started acknowledging this formally.

In addition to lobbing my Member of Parliament to support #Ukraine I’m going to start demanding a response to China. I think isolation is our best option?
