I asked my parents a book for Christmas about Clipper which was a programming language, kinda evolution from a database application called DBASE. I didn't have a computer available, they were quite expensive at the time, I read this book 100 times and wrote code on paper. Until I discovered that a store that had a computer and used DBASE, and I offered to help, I'm glad they trusted the younger me. If my memory is right, it was one book from this series called 'Using Clipper'
The other day I remembered about "Clipper summer 87", and this drove me down memory lane. I remember saving my allowance to buy these magazines on the newsstand called 'Micro Sistemas'. On the cover they say, "The first Brazilian microcomputers magazine", but I assume they had some sort of partnership with the version from Portugal because many of the articles used words that we didn't use in Brazil. Took me a while to figure out what an "ecrã" and a "ficheiro" were.
