@benmschmidt I've been enjoying talking to GPT-4 about the Post-Structuralists. Although it takes some prompt-steering to avoid it regurgitating the OpenAI ideology about LLMs empowering marginalized voices, fostering transparency, etc.
@arnicas Every time a user collapses the superposition to Waluigi

Hi, I work with generative machines. Everything from Markov chain generators to GPT-3. I’ve trained and tuned many models with GPT2 and 3, all with the intent of simulating human interaction.

I know a fair bit about generative machines, both how they work, and how to tune and interact with them to get particular results.

I need you to hear this: they do not know or understand anything. They are complex probability tables.

@WilliamRamsey Oh that's interesting-- in the first image is that pushing into the filter bag?

That makes me wonder about flexible filter arrangements that "breathe" (expand when pressurized) and naturally deflate if the fans slow down. Can't imagine it's more practical than densely pleated panels, but it could have a cool kinetic sculpture effect

@WilliamRamsey There hasn't been as much experimentation with 24v fans

@mark_ungrin suggested the Sunon MF92252V1-1000U-A99 which looks good and inexpensive for scaling to many fans. I haven't tried these yet, curious about noise levels at different voltages https://twitter.com/Mark_Ungrin/status/1620215377044336642

“@JimRosenthal4 The Arctic P14 fans have been the standouts so far in the 12VDC category (not my find, that was @robwiss), in terms of both cost (the 5-pack is great value), power consumption and noise. The best one I've found at 24VDC (in Canada) is the Sunon MF92252V1-1000U-A99, via Digikey.”

@WilliamRamsey My understanding is that 24v would be more standard and has some advantages over 12v https://www.waveformlighting.com/home-residential/advantages-of-a-24v-led-system-vs-12v

Wondering if you should choose a 24V LED system over a 12V LED system? We list 4 advantages of 24V LED systems here.

@fritzoids well I would just say a big and quiet lamp feels less intrusive than small and noisy, if that's the tradeoff. But I am interested to see more designs in a small form factors and candelabra/ensemble concepts
@syntagmatic , this is so clever! I love it! I'm imagining turning it into something like this beautifully decorated lamp (maybe not *quite* that big) or this very simple lamp ensemble.

@fritzoids After building such a small one, I say go big! Big is better! Because it's easy to get more CFM and keep things quiet.

I'm contemplating doing 2x SmartAir Blast filters for a build which would be absolutely huge https://smartairfilters.com/en/product/blast-hepa-filter/
