Oh my God.

I’ve just realised what ChatGPT reminds me of. It’s from Douglas Adams’ novel Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, published 35 years ago.

Apparently a lot of chinese dissidents used AirDrop to share information (because you don’t need internet for it and thus it can’t be censored).

Apples reaction: AirDrop is now limited to 10 minutes in China: https://twitter.com/WholeMarsBlog/status/1597054942069460992 #china #democracy

“Apple has released a software update limiting the use of AirDrop in China in light of recent protests. AirDrop was being used by protesters to transmit info directly phone to phone, bypassing the Great Firewall of China.”

Now the traditional 2D CA example is Conway's game of life, but I had just been working with floats to much more exciting effect and wanted to continue with that. Turns out when you get to floating point (continuous) CA in 2D, you end up doing a _lot_ of pixel lookups! To get any of this stuff in realtime, I had to move my code from the CPU over to shaders. And yeah, continuous 2D has gliders too :)

I grew up around sewing machines, my mom raised me by being a costumer, upholsterer, tailor, and even a clothing business at one point. And I have a compulsion to figure out how things work, but for my 35 year life I haven't been able to figure out how the bobbin stays in without interfering with the needle thread. This actually explains the magic.
