HEADLINE: HLN Gutted By CNN Layoffs
It was sad when (years ago), then Headline News starting moving away from the 30 minute update cycle, but like MTV moving from music in the 1990s, the corporate parent is bent on profit, not mission.
(And for that matter, like the Weather Channel, the web better serves the content of each of their missions.)
Now it will just be another Discovery programmed channel with no unique live content.
I once grabbed a package to do dial up email under MS-DOS (and later Windows & OS/2), and well, it needed TLC. I gave it lots; after a few years (and over 1K commits), I was getting support mail for it from Africa.
I'm sort of relieved the UUCP protocol lost the war to SMTP/POP3/IMAP4 over always connected TCP/IP.
