mastodon is a tangled mess of software and an unfortunately pretty "official" instamce

and then the software is built off one guy's assumptions about what makes a good social network (vague reply counts, specific methods available of punishment/user admin, methods available for federation control)

and then the whole federated community, unfortunately imo, obsesses over the moderation decisions of a handful of people on the flagship instance

man "fuck nazis" is such a bare minimum administration policy

for larger instances, how about where's your policy on accounts that chiefly do advertising. that matters when choosing an environment to socially exist online.
