After a 8 year break, I’m back doing game development during my free time.
Used to work as a tools programmer in automotive industry and very extensively as a Linux sysadmin in many industries through the years. These days I call myself a technical therapist at my current job.

Interested in Linux, Rust, FOSS and privacy.
I play Go actively as a Japanese 4dan.
In Tokyo, but from Finland originally.

@mysk Tried using the offer code for 30% discount but I’m getting an error that I’m not eligible for it. Could it be because I’m already on the 3 day trial? The project seems interesting and I want to keep supporting your work. Hope you can share more about your network implementation etc later too :)
@mysk @D5V3 I really like this approach and switched some of the apps to PWA shortcuts now. Thank you for sharing it!

🚀🤘Introducing Psylo: A New Kind of Private Browser

After 9 months of development, we're super excited to finally launch Psylo, a new kind of private web browser for iOS and iPadOS.

In Psylo, each tab is its own “silo” with isolated storage, cookies, and even its own IP address. Psylo introduces advanced anti-tracking and anti-fingerprinting features that go beyond what a VPN can offer.

@mysk Trying it out now and this seems very nice. The UX is smooth. Removes the need to switch on/off Mullvad for some specific sites. Do you have any plans to introduce an adblocker as well, or does that affect the anti-fingerprinting / other features?
It’s 11PM in Tokyo. Time for some light power cleans and front squats.

Anyway. I will post here random stuff and of course anything I create :) My free time is very limited at the moment since my family and day job takes priority over anything. Then training throwing weights over my head and lastly is actually anything gamedev :)

I am dreaming (emphasize on the dream part) that I'd save enough money in a few years of time and I could take a year off just for creating games. Let's see if I can make that happen eventually.

The job I have wasn't that bad actually and it seems that things are becoming more interesting in the near future for me at work. I started questioning why do I even want to work in cybersecurity in the first place and why am I following this same pattern again I did 10 years ago.

It was very freeing to throw out any extra garbage out of my life and just sit down and think what the hell do I actually want to do? Things I enjoy doing. That is the sport of weightlifting and gamedev. So here I am.

And yes, I did stop studying cybersecurity. I was noticing that I started to show a very similar obsession like I had back in 2015-2017 when I was trying to get a job in games. I wouldn't stop until I had reached my goal. I was actively deteriorating my mental health in the process. Constant rejection and new things to study and to improve. Barely any rest or enjoyable things during my free time.

I started noticing this only after I stopped drinking alcohol.

Changed instance to mastodon.gamedev.place from infosec.exchange, because I'm restarting hobby game development again after a very long break.

I'll be taking a healthy approach to it this time, focusing on enjoying the process and just creating fun stuff, like I used to do at game jams. I don't want to get obsessed about career goals in games industry anymore at this point.

Still, I think it's nice to have a local feed of other developers to follow, hence the move.

@deadbeefdotmonster I still haven’t found a good reason to switch away from the “official” client
