Hi @aardrian, @WeatherGod suggested I reach out to you to ask if you know what image metadata screen readers use for alt text.
Does anyone know what image metadata screen readers use for reading off alt-text on embedded images (like a PNG file)?
been on and off working on content guidelines for the Matplotlib usage docs. If you've got some time, I'd really love feedback from folks who'd maybe need or want to contribute to this section of the docs

Per #26366, I am wary about a lot more work being put into revising the content of the user guide before we settle on what we think that content should read like. I'm drafting some ideas here beca...

Um Q for archives folks - if I wanna mark up the structure and contents of a webpage, what's a good tool for that - basically I want to show the document tree and also tag the topic/audience/scope of each document.

Have you ever thought: what's the actual difference between two charting tools? We explore a nearby-reading (not quite distant/not quite close) that uses a metrics-driven approach to answer that question.

In @nicolaskruchten, my, and Mike McGuffin's upcoming paper #ieeevis paper we develop an eval framework answering this question (and similar ones) for any charting notation (dsl/grammar/whatever).

So a side effect of the last 6 or so years is thinking way too much about community, especially on how I think CUNY culture is that folks have authority but the place really isn't hierarchical & I think that's why it feels really collaborative and for me that helps articulate my itchiness w/ a very popular model of community that I snark is rooted in capitalism b/c it's got a deeply hierarchical producer/consumer bent that also to me feels super competitive b/c the goal is to get up the ladder
Great news for the Vega ecosystem: 📢 VegaFusion 1.0 is out, now with a BSD-3 license! 🎉 If the AGPL license turned you off of VegaFusion when it was first released, take another look, it now has the same license as Altair! https://hex.tech/blog/vegafusion/ 1/5

Hi, do I know any viz education, information architecture, or catalog/index/archive folk who might have bandwidth for (unpaid) consulting on a GSOD proposal to catalog the matplotlib gallery? There are about 660 examples and the questions are planning a project to improve discoverability and support multiple user paths.
