the other side of the coin is dealing with job applications via recruiters is so fucking annoying. the one that wanted lengthy debriefs after every interview has now ghosted me, and the one who just reached out to me is like "can you write a half page paper on why you exited the process when you were interviewing for this same position six months ago" a) no b) why the hell is the position still open
and the answer is because nobody here does any forward planning. our scheduler confirms everything and assigns people to events the day of, we get five to ten pop ups and additional events a day, including people asking for something essential to their event thirty or forty minutes after the event has started. yesterday we had an high profile event featuring the company's founder and they hadn't even worked out all the details until the night before
and it drives me FUCKING NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and both he and our supervisor are like well usually they don't need support and someone's there and it's fine. and it's like okay yes but THIS time they DID which means it's possible! and could in fact happen again! and there ARE days I can stay past 6 I just need you to talk to me in advance! why is this such a difficult concept!
set up mics for a work event last night that was starting after I needed to leave, and they emailed well after I was gone to say they couldn't find the mics. so I mentioned to the scheduler today hey, sorry about that, but also I might need a heads up in future for events that are scheduled to go past my regular time out.
embarrassed myself getting on the bus lads :/ ah well I've earned a little slack for the profound nonsense I put up with in this queue every day

switched to the 'roleplaying' mode in caves of qud last night (checkpoints at friendly villages) and still died three times on my way to the next main quest line. and now I've brought my extremely unportable gaming laptop to work to try again
