@robert hi @Robert thank you for the suggestions. I used your code to select the microphone, and I had the correct one selected. I enabled debugging but didn't get useful output.

I can do M-x whisper run and I get the "Say something then press any key..." but I cannot seem to stop the recording. It will eventually stop after a few minutes and then say "Transcribing/Translating audio" but does not seem to do anything. Any ideas would be really helpful, thanks!

@robert Thank you for getting back to me. I used the TCC util to give emacs permission to record audio. I am having trouble on the transcribe part.

I end up with a temp file

```
If I play that file manually, I hear myself, although sometimes there is an extra minute or two, almost like it doesn't stop recording. In any case, even if it records I don't get the transcript back.
