Small accents of bright green
Snow patches replaced by
New blooms of red and pink
Pollen drapes the wet ground
Golden beaded bracelets
Bluebonnets and daisies
Race the roads of Texas
What started with a few notes
Crescendoes into the symphony of Spring
Hearts blossom in March
Like wildflowers in Texas
Touched by Spring’s magic
Rain renews the ground -
Defeated feet trudge through mud
Footsteps fill with life
The redbud greets Spring
Launching her purple fireworks -
A hero’s welcome
Snow melts with the clouds
Sunshine sighs as it eases
Into Spring’s warm bath
Electrical sky -
Backlit VCR screen blue
Clouds streak like static
Palm tree stretching high
Reaching for neon blue sky
Lovers on the beach
The shore’s outstretched arms
Call me from the raging sea
Lighthouse leads me home
From lofty towers,
Is far-flung beauty perceived,
Ever out of reach.
