@ddrekonja relevant.

Not excusing, but a symptom of a much larger problem.

Kyrsten Sinema lost her power in Georgia.
@ddrekonja I was greeted at the City of Minneapolis with this after leaving a fine tuned machine in Cargill.
I questioned my decision.
@Travler Agreed.
I’m hoping the DOJ pattern & practice review wraps up soon and we have a similar turnaround to Newark.

DOJ stepped in in 2016:

2020 turnaround:
“Newark police did not fire a single shot during the calendar year 2020, and the city didn’t pay a single dime to settle police brutality cases.
At the same time, crime is dropping, and police recovered almost 500 illegal guns from the street during the year.”

I hope Deena Winter makes it over here:

“The Minnesota police and firefighter pension fund could be underfunded by a billion dollars as the exodus of cops continues. Since August 2020, about 90% of the fund's disability claims have been made by police officers, 80% of them reporting PTSD:”

Police and firefighter pension fund could be underfunded by a billion dollars as exodus continues - Minnesota Reformer

As the number of Minnesota law enforcement officers retiring early due to disabilities continues an upward trend this year, the state’s police officers and firefighters may be required to pay more down the road to shore up their state retirement fund.

@StevenBeschloss I’ve spent the better part of the last 25 years as the sole “caretaker”/family for a now elderly bipolar aunt. Even in her most challenging phases when she was non-compliant with her medications she has never been hateful.
@johnrossmd as a former ICU leader said…our system and billing was designed by surgeons prioritizing procedures not outcomes.
