The irony of posting this on social media isn't lost on me, but the impact of misinformation on social media about refugee situations is clearly lost on many people. The need for "extra space" is entirely down to this government failing to process applications for those seeking asylum. It has nothing to do with the number of people arriving. This government made a political decision to leave people waiting, and spend millions of taxpayers money on performative cruelty at the same time.

It would be so much more entertaining watching the Home Office eat itself if it weren't for the fact that they are taking out their ineptitude on migrants, and particularly those seeking asylum. While they try and outdo themselves on performative cruelty others are suffering.

Explaining on LBC News that it really doesn't matter if it is Labour or the Conservatives doing it, temporarily or not, the use of barges to warehouse people seeking safety remains a totally inhumane policy which should be scrapped immediately.

Can pretty much guarantee that Braverman will use this to ramp up attacks against Iranians seeking asylum under the pretence of "national security", while the client media help stir more islamophobia on the back of it.
