@theUnicorn @hilandovergaard Our position on the live feeds is here, but in short, we do not believe it is a good user experience: https://mastodon.social/@staff/115849914607258480
@ThomasKdot When we refer to trusted flaggers here, we are actually referring to Mastodon users who file a lot of high quality reports. They're ordinary users who contribute a lot of effort to making the network nicer for everyone else!
@charlesdelavalleepoussin The iran hashtag is usable in your post. We're not quite sure why your screenshot does not show it as usable, there are no restrictions set on it.
@SuperMoosie @wjmaggos We are granting access to everyone who has asked us for it.

@64bithero Search is not limited to hashtags, and can help you find things to follow. Note that these feeds as seen from here likely differ significantly from feeds you see on your instance.

We recognize these feeds are useful on smaller servers, they are just not particularly useful on ours.

@joergba We recommend searching for topics of interest of hashtags. However, if you would like access to live feeds we can add you to it.

@sam We can grant access to the live feeds for anyone who wants it.

https://www.fediscovery.org/ is particularly intended to help ensure small instances will be able to find content without having to bear the load of consuming a full relay with larger servers.

@mntyfrsh We definitely agree the live feeds can be a great experience on other servers! Turning these off is a setting because it does not make sense for everyone to do.

@untilted We certainly do, but the live feeds on mastodon.social are things posted in the last few seconds, it is essentially a pre-moderation view.

It is neither the best way for newcomers to find their community, nor much use to many established users. If people want to drink straight from the firehose, they can, but we do not recommend it.
