Chess = a design on slate /

Recently re-watched _The Girl With All the Gifts_, (2016). I may grow to love this film. I'd read the novel by Mike Carey before the movie was made, so my first viewing was overshadowed by it.

Many scenes would have hit harder, had I not already imagined them in detail.

Can't wait to watch _Will and Doom or the Miseries of Connecticut by and under an Usurped and Arbitrary Power_, (2023).
"I don't love pain but it defines me. It's part of what I am. Who are you to come along and just erase that." - _The Happiness Cage_, (1972).
Watched _Carter's Army_, (1970), a few days ago. While the made-for-TV production values and the clumsy screenwriting detracted from my enjoyment of the film, a few scenes allowed for great performances by legendary actors.

"This instrument, the only known example of its kind, was probably inspired by the melophone, which a French player presented in a concert in New York in 1841. The upward-pointing handles produce pressure and suction to sound a diatonic scale, as in an accordion or harmonica."

"Here with a Loaf of Bread beneath the Bough,
A Flask of Wine, a Book of Verse - and Thou
Beside me singing in the Wilderness -
And Wilderness is Paradise enow."
