I never understood this. Since when did presidential candidates receive more rights than ordinary citizens. I understand that it’s best to ratchet up punishments up until jail, but I don’t see how running for president from a jail cell is an infringement on 1A rights. @GottaLaff @jsj

A Black high school student in Texas who served an in-school suspension over his hairstyle received the same punishment again when he arrived Monday wearing his hair in twisted dreadlocks tied on top of his head, his mother said.

A Black student was suspended for his hairstyle. The school says it wasn't discrimination

A Black high school student in Texas has been punished with an in-school suspension over his hairstyle for over two weeks, his mother said. The family has argued he is not violating the dress code, but when he arrived Monday wearing his hair still in twisted dreadlocks tied on top of his head, he was suspended again. School officials say Darryl George's dreadlocks violate the district’s dress code. His mother says he isn't violating rules about hair length for boys. The incident recalls debates over hair discrimination in schools and the workplace.

@Teri_Kanefield in normal presidential administrations is there a clear boundary between the chief of staff and management of a presidential campaign? Say, if this was Biden in 2024, would the chief of staff set up a call with a Secretary of State for inquiries about Bidens election count. Or would it that be handled by the Biden election team? With only notice being given to the chief of staff.

Chemical reactions are like a dance between atoms and molecules. As the dancers bounce into each other, they may react. Or they may not.

To make things simpler – more like a line dance, less like a mosh pit – researchers at U of Chicago put all the reactants in the same quantum state. Et voila: the reaction went faster.

This speed-up is known as quantum superchemistry, and theorists had predicted it should be possible. Now we know it is!

Once a piece of metal starts to crack, that crack is only going to get bigger, right?

Well, that's the rule.

But some rules are made to be broken, and researchers
at SandiaLabs recently (and accidentally!) figured out how to break this one. In the process, they provided experimental proof of a theoretical prediction on metal healing made 10 years earlier by Michael Demkowicz at Texas A&M.
